Movie tropes we don’t see enough of

As Alan Partridge once said of regional detective shows, people like them, let’s make more of them.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays an overly intelligent protagonist. He speaks in robotic detail, and more often than not, it is based on a real person in history with fabrications.

A highly famous actor gets fat for a role and that becomes the focus for the whole movie. Yes, never seen that before, and it might win a few awards regardless of how good or bad the performance is. He put on five stone. Give that man an Oscar and fire the costume guy.

An actor stays in character on set for the whole movie. Yes, we are sure actors starting out would get away with this, not just A-list stars.

A police detective whose loved ones were killed because of his work. The most dangerous occupation in the world is being a family member of a copy.

A horror movie remake that renders all character development and story irrelevant by a final scene lasting less than two minutes.

A horror movie that makes every suicide the result of a grand conspiracy or some other dark injustice.

A movie with an autistic genius on a superhuman level.

An academic who knows ancient history and can quickly adapt to the supernatural

Anything else I am missing?
